The issue around 'hardware acceleration disabled or not supported' when playing games in Windows 7 has been posted thousands of times (literally) since 2009, but none of the answers helps me. Doesn't Microsoft have this fixed by now? Does anyone have a real way of fixing this probelm?

Please do not tell me to 1. Go to Device Manager and turn on/or turn off Hardware acceleration. Check my graphics card is properly installed and 3. Check to see if I have the latest drivers installed for it. Someone posted a step by step process to uninstall a program which he said would automatically install correctly when the computer was restarted. As he used a different term for what I could find I asked a question: were these two items the same.

My question doesn't show in my history so I can't follow up. If this process sounds familiar to anyone can you let me know what it is.

4) What are the steps that you have tried to fix the issue? 5) Are you trying to play online games? 6) Which games are involved? 7) Do you have made sure your Windows Updates were updated lately? If you have not tried the below steps, try them: Check DirectX diagnostic utility to make sure Hardware Acceleration is fully enabled (if you have not already done so).

I uninstalled a bootleg copy of Windowns 7 Premiun and installed a genuine copy of Windows 7 Home I have now tried all the steps you suggested plus all the other steps which direct me to turn the hardwarder driver onto full.
